Family Services Australia delivers the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) to families in the Shoalhaven LGA.

HIPPY is an effective way to support early childhood learning in the home – delivering great outcomes for children, parents and the community. It works with families with young children, 3 and 4 year olds, in the two years before school.

HIPPY is a fun, free 2-year program for families, with activity packs, storybooks and other materials included. The HIPPY curriculum is play based and aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework.

HIPPY children work through weekly or fortnightly packs of play-based, educational activities with their parents and family. They are encouraged to ask questions and try new things; developing their confidence and passion for learning, which enables school-readiness.

HIPPY believes that you are your child’s first teacher. Families are supported by a trained HIPPY Tutor with a combination of one-on-one pack deliveries as well as the invitation to attend regular HIPPY Gatherings. HIPPY Gatherings provide the opportunity for families to connect with each other, learn about child development and to hear about local services and events in your community.

The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services. The Brotherhood of St. Laurence holds the licence to operate HIPPY in Australia.
